Actually we do have something they can start with that is GIS. Suzie created it when working on the Scenic Byways map.

Suzie –

Could you please provide the shape files to Denise to share with Lyn Pilch? Please provide your contact information she can also share with them if they have questions on it too.

I would think the data is still in order and wouldn’t need revising. They can review and see what they think though.

Hi Denise--I received your information from Jan Kemmerling at IL Tourism.

I'm one of the managing directors of the Mississippi River Parkway Commission, the 10-state organization behind the Great River Road National Scenic Byway.

Our organization has four committees: Transportation, Marketing, Culture & Heritage and Environmental, Agriculture, Recreation.

Based on directive from the marketing and transportation committees--we are in the process of collecting GIS shape files from each state to create a navigable mobile app to assist travelers interested in driving the Great River Road.

We would also would like to create a printed map that has a more accurate depiction of the route.

Additionally, the transportation committee would like to use the data in a Corridor Management Plan to continue promoting and preserving the Great River Road.

Our long term vision is to include wayshowing on the app and website: experiencemississippiriver.com.

The only state's files I need are Illinois to complete the mapping. We are in the process of retaining a mapping firm to combine all the files into one master file.

Would you be able to provide me with IL's files or point me in the direction of someone who could pass it along?

If you need examples, I can send you what I have received from the other states.
